Wonder Women of Dentistry: Anne Duffy, RDH, Founder of DEWLife

Original Fashion Trends is proud to feature this week’s “Wonder Woman of Dentistry” Anne M. Duffy, RDH.

Anne Duffy has been in the dental field demonstrating leadership and inclusivity throughout her career. Since meeting her less than one year ago, I have come to know her and adore her loving personality. She is truly an inspiration for all women and a strong motivator in the dental community.

The first time I saw her was on her cover of the Dental Entrepreneur Women Magazine. When we met in person on the Smiles at Sea cruise this past October, we shared a meal together and chatted about our shared goals and dreams of promoting other women’s passions. I was immediately impressed by her and her movement and decided I wanted to join her at her inagural DEW retreat. 

Well... one month later I was booking my trip to fly to Charlotte, NC to her inaugural Dental Entrepreneur Women’s Retreat "DEW". She and I collaborated before the retreat on an opportunity for her to promote her brand and improve DEW’s visibility in the world through a feature fine jewelry signature design and product, her DEWLife logo. 

Original Fashion Trends developed the CAD rendering of her logo and produced the “DEWLife signature necklace” in Sterling Silver. It is a symbol of the organization's dedication to dentistry and the aspirations that these women have to accomplish their goals. Each and every woman in the group has her own story to tell.
After the retreat we collaberated again to produce another custom necklace, this time in 14KT yellow gold with Forever One Moissanite by Charles and Colvard.

When I was at the conference, I realized why the women of DEW are special. They aim to help others with their knowledge and expertise with a welcoming sense of warmth that is tangible. This organization fills a need by "creating a pipeline of female entrepreneurs". It was especially helpful for me to learn how to establish and grow my own business in the very early stages of Original Fashion Trends.

We had workshops and incredible speakers on how to develop lasting inter-personal and inter-professional relationships, identifying and developing our personal strengths, and learning how to use this knowledge to reach our potential. Additionally, the networking opportunities were outstanding. 

I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to go to the inaugural retreat and meet all these wonderful women and am looking forward to this years second annual retreat.

The second annual DEW retreat will be November 12-13, 2020. 

DEW mission is to inspire, highlight, and empower all women of dentistry. They believe that all women are entrepreneurs. It is a place to share your story and help others. 

Their motto is “Just DEW it.”

For all of these reasons and more, I wanted to let Anne shine today.

"Anne M. Duffy, RDH is a passionate, dedicated member of the dental community, and she works diligently to empower others to strengthen themselves and their dental profession.

Anne graduated from The Ohio State University in 1974 and has 45 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Because she moved 10 times and took 6 state boards prior to settling in Charlotte, NC, she has worked in practices around the country over the years, building up relationships with professionals throughout the various facets of the industry, including office team members, hygienists, dentists, industry leaders, dental schools, and students. 

In 1995 she joined a direct sales company selling toothpaste and alcohol-free mouthrinse and worked to build the largest group of female leaders in the company. 

In 1998 Anne assisted with the launch of Dental Entrepreneur: Business Beyond the Classroom as the only sales associate, and in 2002 she purchased the publication. In 2016 she conceived Dental entrepreneur Woman magazine and is committed to inspiring, highlighting, empowering and connecting all women in dentistry. 

Anne works tirelessly as editor and publisher of both Dental Entrepreneur and Dental entrepreneur Woman magazines with the goal of attracting amazing people to dentistry and helping them to maximize their careers. She is building up the DeW community as a movement to continue to advance women in dentistry and the causes they advocate. 

The inaugural DeW Retreat sold out three times and is now an annual event the second week in November, called Living Your Strengths. Anne also continues to practice as a hygienist ½ day per week because she loves the operatory, it keeps her current, and that is where it all began."
